WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a matchup of two ranked teams, the Ursinus College field hockey team outlasted The Catholic University of America 3-2 on Tuesday night in field hockey play.

 

The Bears, ranked sixth, moved to 14-3 and scored a key regional win over the 18^th-ranked Cardinals (11-5).

 

Senior Megan Keenan scored a goal and an assist, while seniors Ann Kopera and Samantha Macchio got on the board for the Bears.

 

Leading 3-0 in the 51^st minute, Ursinus saw Catholic score back-to-back goals in the 55^th and 56^th minutes to crawl within one but held off for the win.

 

The lone goal in the first half came off the stick of Kopera at 24:29 when she scored on a point blank shot.

 

Keenan scored her first goal at 42:27 off of a penalty corner, followed by Macchio's goal from Keenan at 50:10.

 

Catholic got on the board when Lane Adams scored at 54:37, followed by a goal from Ellen Thorburn at 55:53.

 

For Ursinus, who owned a 21-7 shot advantage, senior Danielle DeSpirito made two saves.

 

Ursinus goes to Muhlenberg to close the regular season on Friday night.
