SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Trailing by 16 at halftime, the Ursinus College women's basketball team rallied in the second half to take a one-point lead with 6:29 to go.

However, Swarthmore outscored Ursinus (5-8 Centennial, 7-13) 15-6 over the final 6:13 as the Garnet (4-10 Centennial, 7-13) defeated the Bears 65-56 at Tarble Pavilion on Wednesday night.

The Bears were held to just one field goal during that timeframe as Swarthmore made 11 foul shots down the stretch to take the win.

Ursinus was led by 18 points from junior forward Jessica Porada, and 17 points from junior forward Caroline Shimrock, while junior guard Alyssa Polimeni had ten points.

For Swarthmore, Elle Larsen had a game-high 24 points and 12 rebounds, with Jessica Jowdy adding in 19.

Trailing 40-23 with 19 minutes to go in the game, Ursinus embarked on a 22-4 run over a span of 9:22, ending with a layup from Porada with 9:48 to go and a 45-44 Ursinus lead. Swarthmore would briefly go up four points, before Ursinus responded back and took its last lead at 50-49 on a three-pointer by Shimrock with 6:29 left.

In the first half, it was all Swarthmore as it built the lead as high as 16 points.

Ursinus got seven rebounds from Porada, and will host Dickinson Saturday.
