Men's Soccer Plays Scranton to Stalemate

Box Score

SCRANTON, Pa. – Tyler Lewin turned in his best performance of the season to help the Ursinus College men's soccer team earn a hard-fought 0-0 draw in non-conference action at Scranton Tuesday night.

Lewin made a career-high nine saves, including two in extra time, to stave off a persistent attacking performance by the hosts and secure a solid result against a solid Royals side. Scranton outshot the Bears, 20-6, but was unable to break through as the Bears notched their fourth clean sheet of the season.

Alexis Ayala put both of his shots on target for Ursinus (4-6-2), which was coming off a 2-1 setback to No. 3 Franklin & Marshall over the weekend. The junior co-captain had a sight of goal in the final minute of regulation but was thwarted by Royals keeper Jakob Hodlofski.

Scranton had shot advantages of 9-2 in the first half, 6-3 in the second, and 5-1 in overtime, but Colin Klingman, Mike Buck, and Dylan Bagley teamed with the rest of the Bears' back line players to limit the Royals to just a handful of decent chances. Ursinus became just the third team to shut out Scranton during the 2019 campaign.

The Bears return to Centennial Conference play on Saturday at Muhlenberg.
