Box Score

BALTIMORE, Md. – The No. 12 Ursinus College field hockey team's season came to an end with a 2-0 loss to Franklin & Marshall in the Centennial Conference semifinals.

Despite a strong second half, the Bears (11-7) were unable to put a shot into the back of the cage as the second-seeded Diplomats advanced to a championship rematch with Johns Hopkins.

Seventh-ranked F&M (16-2) controlled the opening period and got on the board first as Kat Horsley slotted a penalty stroke into the top right corner of the cage.

Neither team dented the scoreboard in the second quarter, and Ursinus seemed to be on the front foot in the third, forcing a pair of saves on shots by Devon Carroll and Erin Saybolt off penalty corners. Against the run of play, the Diplomats doubled their advantage on a goal by Lily Mynott with just over five minutes remaining in the third. The Bears managed just one shot the rest of the way.

Saybolt and Carroll each posted four shots for Ursinus, which was outshot 14-9 for the night but held a 6-3 edge in that category after halftime. Addie Frey finished with six saves and Erin McIlhenny notched her seventh defensive save of the year.
