COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The No. 11 ranked Ursinus College field hockey team scored five goals in the first quarter of Saturday's homecoming Centennial Conference showdown against McDaniel on their way to a 6-0 shutout and fifth straight win.

Gemma Dufoe got the Bears on the scoreboard just 1:18 into the game off of a pass from Brianne Nicholas in the circle. Erin Saybolt and Gabriela Howell added to the Ursinus lead with a pair of goals 48 seconds apart to make it 3-0 just over a third into the first quarter.

Up three goals, the Bears continued to dominate offensive possession, just missing on shots from Dufoe, Erin Saybolt, and Laura Rothschild. Finally, Saybolt fired a shot from the top of the circle off of a rebound to put the Bears up four goals. Freshman Jordan Moore ended the first quarter frenzy with the first goal of her career as the Bears headed to the second quarter leading, 5-0.

The Bears didn't score five goals in the second but kept the pressure on. Addie Plummer fired two of the team's first four shots of the period before capitalizing on her third to earn the first goal of her career, giving the Bears a 6-0 lead.

The sixth Bears goal would be their last, but the offense finished with 38 shots, 20 of which were on goal, to McDaniel's one. The Bears also took an impressive 16 penalty corners. Goalkeeper Addie Frey finished with her second shutout of the season. Plummer led the Bears with a team-high six shots.

 The Bears continue Centennial Conference play next week when they host Swarthmore on Wednesday.
