Bears Roll Over Gettysburg 42-21 on Homecoming

Box Score

Collegeville, Pa. – The Ursinus College football team (6-2, 5-2) celebrated Homecoming Saturday afternoon by defeating Gettysburg College 42-21. The Bears collected their third consecutive victory in a row, in large part due to a complete performance on both sides of the ball.

Jack Psenicka threw for three touchdowns while the defense held the Bullets to only 11 first downs on the afternoon. Samuel Ragland totaled 106 total yards with four total touchdowns and Jonathan Klee lead the defense with seven total tackles.

The Bears off a dominating performance over Moravian last week winning 34-7, jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the first two minutes. After a 54-yard pass to Kevin DePrince, Samuel Ragland punched in his first touchdown on the day from 8 yards out. After a three and out from Gettysburg, a Bears drive would stall on the Bullets 36-yard line.

Jack Psenicska found Nick Schnaars on a 4th and 6 from the Bullets 23, and Samuel Ragland would find the endzone on the next play from 9 yards out for a 14-0 lead.  After a handful of punts from both teams, a Gettysburg interception would set up the Bullets at the Ursinus 44. The Bears defense would step up again stopping Gettysburg on fourth down at the Ursinus 37. Nine plays later, Psenicka would find Zachary Throne from 21 yards out to make the score 21-0 at the break.

In the third quarter, Gettysburg opening drive ended with a Doug Cummings punt to the Ursinus 20-yard line. Ursinus would continue the pressure by driving down to the Bullets 13-yard line and would convert on a 4th and 6 as Psenicka found Octavious Carter from 13 yards out for the 28-0 lead.

After trading touchdowns, Ursinus would put the game away when Psenicka found Ragland for a 13-yard score, and a 42-7 lead. Gettysburg finished the game 4 of 16 on third downs, while the Bears converted 46% of their third down opportunities. Nick Schnaars and Kevin DePrince would both finish with seven receptions and over 100 yards.

The Bears will host Juniata next Saturday at 12:00PM as they will celebrate Senior Day.
