GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's volleyball team was downed in straight-sets by Gettysburg in their season finale on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Bears close out their 2022 season with a 15-9 overall record and a 3-7 mark in Centennial Conference play. Meanwhile, the Bullets improved to 20-5 overall and 6-4 in conference play. The Bullets clinched their spot into the Centennial Conference playoffs as the #5 seed and will travel to Dickinson on Wednesday for their first-round matchup.

Rachel Bernard paced the team with four assists, while Robinson and first-year
Noelle Smits each earned a block.
Gettysburg grabbed the momentum of the match in the early moments of the first set scoring nine consecutive points, before a kill from junior
Haley Spotts ended the run. Later in the set, with Gettysburg leading 18-6, Sherman earned her first kill of the match and Bernard collected an ace. Bernard ended the 2022 season leading the conference in service aces per set averaging 0.82. The Bullets closed out the first set on a 7-2 run to capture a 1-0 lead.
In the second set, Ursinus jumped out to a 2-0 lead, after Bernard earned her first kill of the match and added another ace. With Gettysburg leading 4-3, the Bears used a 6-1 run to regain the lead, 9-5. The Bears capitalized on some Bullets errors, while Walborn tallied an ace and Smits landed her first kill of the match. Gettysburg tied the match at ten apiece and regained the lead after a Bears error, but the Bears tied the match after a Robinson kill. The Bullets regained the lead and the momentum after a 7-3 run to make the score 18-13. Sherman added two kills while Cressman added another, but the Bullets edged the Bears to take a 2-0 advantage.
In the beginning of the third set, the Bears jumped out to a 3-1 advantage behind kills from Robinson and Cressman. Gettysburg bounced back regaining a 4-3 lead, before four consecutive points from Ursinus gave the Bears an 8-5 lead. The Bullets responded with a 9-1 run to recapture the lead at 14-9 in the middle stages of the third set. After a Bullets error, Gettysburg closed out the final set on a 11-2 run to win the match.
For Gettysburg, Zanze Kuba-McCoy earned a game-high 10 kills, while Sophie Nasir earned a game-high 15 assists. Olivia Biggs led the Bullets on the defensive end with six blocks and Mary Huegel collected a game-high seven aces.
