WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Ursinus Gymnastics team made the short trip to compete in West Chester's Tri-Meet on Saturday afternoon. The Bears competed alongside the host Golden Rams and NCGA East opponent Cortland and posted a team score of 185.675 to finish third among the three teams.
The Bears team score was highlighted by a 47.675 on the vault which was the team's highest score on the event since posting a 47.700 at Temple on March 8th, 2020. Ursinus recorded scores of 47.075 on the floor, 45.575 on the uneven bars, and 45.450 on the balance beam. West Chester led the squads with a team score of 193.850 and the Red Dragons tallied an overall score of 187.750.
Ursinus was dialed in on the vault as four of the six gymnasts recorded over a 9.5 in the event. Sophomore
Erin Stubbs paced the Bears with a career best score of 9.625 and was a part of a three-way tie for sixth overall. Stubbs has now scored over a 9.5 in all three meets this season on the vault in her first collegiate action. Senior
Taylor Cusick finished second among the Bears with a season best score of 9.575 and was followed by junior
Ashley Cromer, who recorded a career best score of 9.525. First-year
Sidney Schreiber topped her season-high of 9.525 to match Cromer while senior
Alex Panetta recorded a score of 9.425. Sophomore
Kyleigh Pierce rounded out the scores with a 9.325 in her collegiate vault starting lineup debut.
Schreiber continued to shine on the floor for Ursinus as she recorded a team-high score of 9.625 and finished tied for fifth overall. Schreiber has scored at least a 9.550 in all three times competing on the floor this season. Sophomore
Daria Gregory followed with a career best 9.525 to finish second among Bears gymnasts and senior
Kasey Ricci posted a score of 9.400. Cusick recorded a season best 9.275 and was followed by senior
Alyssa DeLorme with a 9.250, and sophomore
Isabella Scarpetti tallying a 9.225.
Panetta continued to build on her bars score as she led the Bears with a season-high of 9.525 and tied for sixth overall. Sophomore
Adison Tanguay recorded a season best score of 9.225 and classmate
Megan Matteucci followed with a 9.200, also a season-high score for the event.
Gregory impressed on the balance beam by leading the Bears with a team and career high score of 9.575 which placed her seventh overall.
The Bears return to action on Sunday, February 5th as they will host West Chester for their annual senior day dual meet at 1:00 p.m.
