COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Behind a balanced scoring effort, the Ursinus Men's Basketball team returned to Centennial Conference play with a 92-79 win over Washington College on Wednesday night at Helfferich Hall.
With the win, the Bears improved to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in Centennial Conference play. Meanwhile, the Shoremen fell to 1-9 overall and 0-4 in conference action.

Ryan Hughes led six Bears in double figures for scoring with a team-high 16 points while adding four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Junior
Trevor Wall nearly matched Hughes by scoring 15 points and dished out a team-high seven assists. Sophomore
Beau Everett recorded a career-high 14 points off the bench behind going a perfect 6-of-6 from the field and grabbed three rebounds plus two steals. Junior

Mohamed Toure posted 13 points apiece while freshman
Nick Nocito tallied 11 points behind a perfect 4-of-4 from the field plus 3-of-3 from beyond the arc.
The Bears started ice cold from the field as they did not score until the 15:31-mark of the first half when Hughes made a jumper to end an 8-0 Shoremen run. Washington College stretched its lead to 14-4 at the 13:45-mark behind a pair of three pointers and maintained a 19-10 lead at the 12:23-mark. The Bears finally began to cut into the Shoremen's advantage as they rattled off six-straight points after trailing 27-18 to make it a 27-24 game at the 7:25-mark of the first half. Hughes tied the game at 35 with a three-pointer at the 4:12-mark before Maurer gave the Bears their first lead of the game at 38-36 with 3:37 left in the first half. After the Shoremen took the lead back at 39-38 with a three-pointer, the Bears reeled off 10-straight points to go up 48-39 with 55 seconds left in the first half. Maurer closed the half with a pair of free throws to put Ursinus up 50-41 at the half.
Maurer kicked off the second half with a three-pointer to put the Bears up by double-digits for the first time in the game at 53-41. The Shoremen cut the lead down to seven with six-straight points before a 7-2 burst put the Bears back up 12 at 60-48. Ursinus used timely shooting to not let their lead slip under nine points for the rest of the contest and extended their lead out to as many as 15 points at 76-61 with 7:07 left in regulation. The Bears lead stayed in double digits for the final 11:37 of the contest.
The Bears shot 50.8 percent (33-of-65) from the field and 44 percent (11-of-25) from three-point range. Ursinus went 15-of-22 (68.2%) from the free throw line and held a slight 41-38 rebounding advantage. Meanwhile, the Shoremen went 41.2 percent (28-of-68) from the field and 39.4 percent (13-of-33) from three-point range. Washington College also shot a solid 76.9 percent (10-of-13) from the free throw line.
Kedrick Frink flirted with a triple-double for the Shoremen with a game-high 17 points while adding eight rebounds and seven assists. Sam Corraro added 16 points behind going 4-of-8 from three-point range in the loss.
Ursinus returns to action on Saturday, January 7th as they will host Gettysburg for a 1 p.m. contest.
