Chinwe Irondi and junior
Natalie Mehl combined for 43 points as the Ursinus College women's basketball team defeated Penn St. Brandywine 75-47 on Saturday afternoon from Helfferich Hall.
With the win, the Bears improved to 4-7 on the season while the Nittany Lions fell to 5-8 overall.
Irondi continued her stellar start to her sophomore campaign recording 25 points, four rebounds, and two assists while shooting 84.6% (11-13) from the field. This marks the ninth consecutive game that she has collected ten or more points and fifth game in a row tallying twenty or more points. Mehl was sensational collecting 18 points and shooting 40% (4-10) from behind the three-point line while collecting five rebounds and three assists. Senior

Makenna Foder, and
Madison Smith each collected four or more points.
The Bears offense heated up early jumping out to a 9-2 advantage just four minutes into the first stanza. Irondi netted the opening bucket with a layup inside the paint while junior
Sarah DiLello drilled a three-pointer and after a steal Mehl capitalized on a fast break opportunity. The Bears stretched their lead to 11 as Mehl connected on two free throws, but a 5-0 Nittany Lions run made the score 11-7 with 3:56 to play in the first quarter. Each team traded baskets over the final minutes of the first, but Ursinus controlled a 23-16 lead as DiLello found Donato for a three-pointer with five seconds left in the period.
Ursinus continued the rally in the second using an 15-2 run jumping out to a 38-19 lead at the 6:51-mark. Irondi and Mehl combined for all 15 points as the junior guard/forward collected three triples from behind arc for a commanding lead midway through the second quarter. Brown followed suit for the Bears grabbing an offensive board and finishing with a layup, while Irondi scored the final seven points of the quarter to give Ursinus a 47-23 lead at halftime.
The Bears jumped out a 29-point advantage in the second half as Mehl and Irondi combined for the first seven points behind a 7-2 Bears run at the 6:01-mark. Ursinus stretched their lead to 31 through three quarters as Foder connected on a jump shot as Smith scored on a layup inside the paint. Maria D'Aulerio delivered a three-pointer and two free throws in route to the Bears 75-47 victory.
Ursinus closed out the contest shotting 43.5% (27-62) from the field while shooting 32% (8-25) from behind the arc. They forced 16 Nittany Lions turnovers, recorded 27 bench points, and tallied 34 points in the paint for the non-conference victory.
The Bears will return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Carlisle, Pennsylvania for a Centennial Conference matchup with Dickinson College at 6 p.m.
