LANCASTER, Pa. – The Ursinus football team suffered a 20-16 loss to Franklin & Marshall behind a last second touchdown on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.
Junior quarterback
Jalen Bradford went 20-of-37 for 205 yards and one touchdown pass along with one interception. He also led the team in rushing with 42 yards on 14 carries. Junior wide receiver
Justin Collier led the team with 91 yards receiving on eight catches. Junior

After each team traded punts on their opening drives, the Diplomats took the initial 6-0 lead at the 11:49 mark of the first quarter with a 24-yard touchdown run after a lengthy punt return set F&M up deep in the Bears territory. Bradford navigated Ursinus down the field behind his arm and legs and set up sophomore kicker
Jordan Carr to knock home a career-long 42-yard field goal at the 6:54-mark of the first quarter to make it a 6-3 game.
After Ursinus turned it over on downs in F&M territory near the end of the first quarter, senior linebacker
Brett Gross halted a Diplomats drive with a forced and recovered fumble early in the second quarter. The Bears took advantage of the turnover as Bradford found Holden for a 16-yard touchdown reception to put Ursinus up 10-6 at the 8:11-mark of the second quarter. Senior linebacker
Julian Jones intercepted Diplomats quarterback Ty Tremba in Bears territory on the ensuing drive, but the Bears were stopped on downs in F&M territory to keep the lead at 10-6 at the half.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Bears moved back into Diplomats territory and Carr tacked on his second field goal of the day, this time from 35 yards out, to put Ursinus ahead 13-6 with 12:47 left in regulation. Franklin & Marshall had their next drive extended due to a roughing the kicker penalty on the punt and scored on to tie the game at 13 with 7:15 left in the fourth quarter. Ursinus put together a 13-play 43-yard drive that consumed 5:34 and ended with Carr putting the Bears ahead at 16-13 with a 41-yard field goal with 1:30 left in regulation. However, the Diplomats converted a 4th and 16 and scored the game-winning touchdown with two seconds left in regulation on a 12-yard touchdown pass.
Junior defensive back
Anthony Esposito led the Bears with seven solo tackles and three pass break-ups and Gross posted six tackles (five solo) along with his forced and recovered fumble. Senior defensive end
Ryan Bodolus finished with four tackles (three solo), 2.0 TFL, and one sack which moved him a 0.5 sack away from setting the Ursinus career record.
