TOWSON, Md. – The Ursinus Men's Basketball team kept their hot shooting from the field going on Saturday afternoon as they cruised past Goucher 90-64 on the road in non-conference action.
With the win, the Bears improved to 5-6 overall and collected its second straight win. Meanwhile, the Gophers fell to 3-8 overall as they continue to navigate the 2023-24 season under first-year assistant Juston Klingman, who served as an assistant for four seasons (2016-19) under Bears head coach
Kevin Small.

Trevor Wall once again paced the Bears offense with a game-high 25 points, his third 20+ point game in the last four. Wall also added seven rebounds and three assists in the win. Ursinus got tremendous contribution from its bench against Goucher as sophomore
Mohamed Toure recorded 13 points behind going 5-of-9 from the field and first-year
Luke Nieman posted 12 points after shooting 5-of-6 from the field.
Ursinus scored the initial five points of the contest and maintained an 11-7 advantage at the 16:35-mark in the first half. Goucher hung tough with the Bears early in the first half and took their first lead of the game at 19-18 at the 11:24-mark following five straight points. The Gophers took the lead back at 21-20 following a pair of free throws at the 9:32-mark of the first half before the Bears stormed ahead with a 15-4 run and went up 35-25. Ursinus continued to pull away as they stretched their lead out to 48-28 at halftime to complete a 28-7 run in the final 7:55 of the first half. The Bears went 10-of-14 from the field during that stretch and made their first seven field goals of the run.
The Bears picked up right where they left off in the first half to start the second as they once again scored the first five points and went up 53-28 in the first minute. Ursinus stayed consistent from the field in the second half and did not let their lead drop below 20 points after their run in the first minute of the game. Ursinus stretched its lead over 30 points and built it to as many as 35 points with 7:39 left in the contest.
Ursinus shot 53.6 percent (30-of-56) from the field for the game after shooting at least 53 percent in each half. The Bears went 50 percent (7-of-14) from three-point range and 23-of-32 (71.9%) from the free throw line. The Bears held a 47-38 rebounding advantage and got 32 points from its bench. Meanwhile, the Gophers shot 34.4 percent (22-of-64) from the field and just 26.9 percent (7-of-26) from beyond the arc. Goucher went 13-of-29 (44.8%) from the free throw line and held a 16-9 advantage in second chance points.
Jacob Morgan led the Gophers with a team-high 17 points and posted three rebounds along with two steals.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, January 6th as they return to Centennial Conference play at Johns Hopkins for a 4:00 p.m. start.
