CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Ursinus Women's Basketball team saw a late rally fall just short as they dropped a 46-41 contest to Washington College on the road Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.

Natalie Mehl led the Bears in scoring with 13 points and posted four rebounds, two assists, one block, plus one steal. Classmate
Kelly Grant joined Mehl in double-figures with 10 points behind hitting a trio of three-pointers and tallied a team-high four assists.
Mehl put the Bears in front 3-2 with a three-pointer at the 7:05-mark of the first quarter before the Shorewomen ran off 10-straight points to go up 12-3 with 3:16 remaining. Despite just over a four-minute scoreless stretch, the Bears ended the quarter with some momentum behind an 8-2 run to make it a 14-11 game after 10 minutes. Junior
Sarah DiLello opened the second quarter with a layup to cut the lead down to one point at 14-13, but the Shorewomen responded with a 12-1 run to go up 25-15 with 2:39 remaining in the first half. Mehl made a layup to end the run and each team went scoreless in the final two minutes to bring the score to 25-17 at the half.
Ursinus opened the second half with an 8-4 edge to cut the Shorewomen's lead down to 29-25 at the 5:08-mark. Unfortunately for the Bears, they went scoreless in the final five minutes which allowed Washington College to go up 35-25 into the final quarter. The Bears got five quick points to begin the fourth quarter to make it a 35-30 game at the 7:59-mark but were unable to continue to chop into the lead. The Shorewomen held a 43-35 lead at the 2:17-mark before the Bears made a final charge with eight-straight points to make it a 43-41 game with 31 seconds left in regulation. The Shorewomen split a pair of free throws after a Bears foul, but a pair of missed free throws ultimately doomed Ursinus on their next possession. Washington College added two final free throws to lock up the win.
The Bears shot 34 percent (16-of-47) from the field, 30.4 percent (7-of-23) from three-point range and went just 2-of-10 (20%) from the free throw line. Meanwhile, the Shorewomen shot 30.9 percent (17-of-55) from the field and 25 percent (3-of-12) from distance. Washington College went 69.2 percent (9-of-13) from the free throw line, forced 26 Ursinus turnovers, and held a slight 39-37 edge in rebounds.
Andrea Prestianne led the Shorewomen in scoring with 14 points and posted five assists plus three rebounds.
Ursinus returns to action on Wednesday, February 15th as they will host Muhlenberg at 8:00 p.m.
