COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – In their first home match since October, the Ursinus Women's Tennis team downed Lebanon Valley 6-3 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Ursinus Tennis Courts.
With the win, the Bears improved to 7-2 overall after returning home following their Florida trip. Meanwhile, the Dutchmen fell to 5-3 overall.
The Bears won two of the three doubles matches to go up 2-1 into singles play. Sophomores

Shannon Stewart suffered an 8-4 setback to Nicole Honrade and Sarah Kramer at No. 1 doubles before junior
Claire Burke and senior
Ava Compagnoni responded by defeating Meredith Haas and Livia Jackson 8-6 at the No. 2 spot. Junior
Avery Samer and first-year
Bella Vassalluzzo won a thrilling 8-7 match over Madison Poladian and Eliana Shenk at the No. 3 position that went 7-5 into tiebreaker and gave the Bears the edge into singles.
Samer got things going for the Bears in singles action by defeating Haas 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 4 position. Stewart took down Jackson 7-5, 6-3 at No. 3 singles and Armour fell 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 1 spot to Honrade. Burke then clinched the match for Ursinus by taking down Kramer 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 2 position. Compagnoni dropped a tough 6-7 (4-7), 3-6 match to Shenk at the No. 5 spot before first-year
Fiona Finnerty rallied to defeat Poladian 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 in a three-set tiebreaker at No. 6 singles.
The Bears return to action on Tuesday, March 21st as they will host DeSales at 4:00 p.m.
