Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Rolls Past Arcadia, 14-2.

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus women's lacrosse team bounced back with a 14-2 win over Arcadia on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Patterson Field.
 
 

With the win, the Bears evened their overall record to 2-2 while the Knights of the MAC Freedom dropped to 0-5 overall.

 
 
Ursinus got the scoring going quickly in the opening minute of the contest as they cashed in on a Knights failed clear. First-year Ashley Noto led a rush and found sophomore Grace Lynch, who spun off a defender and scored to make it 1-0. Junior Mary Michaud added to the Bears lead at the 11:54-mark with a swift spin move pass her defender in front of the net. Ursinus registered three free position shot goals in a row from sophomore Maeve Leonzi, senior Reilly Morgan, and first-year Mia Gifford in a 2:11 span to make it a 5-0 game. First-Year Skyler Bogdan extended the Ursinus lead with a rip from 10 yards out at the 5:08-mark before Leonzi added her second goal after running past a pair of Knights defenders to make it 7-0 with just over a minute left in the first quarter. First-year Meghan Vizian capped the Bears big first quarter with a free position shot goal in the final minute to push the Ursinus lead to 8-0 lead.
 
 
 
Lynch snatched a pass from Michaud to score her second of the game to make it 9-0 at the 13:52-mark. Arcadia ended the Bears run just over a minute later to bring the score to 9-1, but the Bears added three-straight goals to take a 12-1 advantage and force a running clock. Bogdan found Lynch in space for the first goal of the run before first-year Renee Washart scored a free position shot goal, the first of her collegiate career. Noto then fed Morgan open in front of the net for the final goal of the first half. Sophomore Julia McCann netted her first of the game in the opening minute of the third quarter and Noto concluded the Bears dominant showing by adding a free position shot goal at the 7:04-mark.
 

 
The Bears held a sizable a whopping 36-9 shot advantage for the game and a 27-6 edge in shots on goal. Ursinus held a 27-16 ground ball advantage, 13-7 edge in ground balls, and forced Arcadia into 28 turnovers. Senior goalkeeper Alexa Machado needed to make just one save in the first half and first-year Camille Hubbs made three saves in the entire second half. Emily Griffith suffered the loss for the Knights after making six saves in the first 30 minutes she played in the net. Lynch led the Bears with a game-high three goals and Noto recorded three points behind a goal and two assists.


 
Ursinus returns to action on Wednesday, March 8th as they will travel to face Susquehanna at 4:00 p.m.
