PHILADELPHIA – The Ursinus Gymnastics team wrapped up its regular season by competing in the Temple Quad Meet with Southern Connecticut State and Fisk on Sunday afternoon at McGonigle Hall.
In their final meet before the NCGA East Regionals next week, the Bears recorded a total score of 187.825 to finish fourth overall in the meet. Ursinus registered event scores of 48.100 on the floor, 47.500 on the vault, 46.475 on the balance beam, and 45.750 on the uneven bars. The host Owls won the meet with a team score of 196.375.
Ursinus continued to dominate on the floor exercise by recording over a 48 for the third meet out of their last four. First-year
Sidney Schreiber led the Bears once again in the event by registering a 9.775 on the day. Schreiber has now posted at least a 9.7 on the floor in three-straight meets and has scored at least a 9.55 in seven of the eight Ursinus meets this season. Senior
Alyssa DeLorme recorded a 9.675 to finish second among the Bears while sophomores
Megan Matteucci and
Isabella Scarpetti each recorded a 9.575. Senior
Taylor Cusick followed with a 9.500 and junior
Carly Troilo rounded out the Ursinus scores with a 9.450.
Panetta stole the show on the vault by recording a career best score of 9.750 which was a full .200 higher than her previous high. Junior
Ashley Cromer tallied a 9.6 on the vault for the second-straight week to finish second among the Bears and continue to show her strength for the event. DeLorme recorded a score of 9.400 while Cusick and Matteucci both tallied scores of 9.375. Schreiber rounded out the Bears totals by scoring a 9.150.
DeLorme impressed on the bars by totaling her highest score of the season with a 9.725 and Panetta tallied a 9.625 which was her third-straight meet posting at least a 9.6 for the event. DeLorme also registered the highest total on the beam at Temple for Ursinus with a 9.575. Scarpetti followed with her total of 9.4 and Cromer recorded a score of 9.350 to finish third in the Bears scores.
With a strong showing, DeLorme took a run at her career-best All-Around score by posting a season-high 38.375.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, March 11th as they will host the 2023 NCGA East Regionals at Helfferich Hall starting at 1:00 p.m. For more information and tickets please
