KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Ursinus Men's Tennis team opened their Florida Spring Break Trip with a resounding 9-0 win over Wentworth on Monday afternoon at Oak Street Park.
With the win, the Bears improved to 4-0 after playing their first match since October 8th. Meanwhile, the Leopards fell to 1-4 overall.
Ursinus took control early by sweeping the doubles matches to take the initial 3-0 lead. The No. 3 singles team of senior
Noah Mandel and freshman
Andrei Bogdan defeated Owen Conlon and Kevin Shields 8-2 before juniors
Ethan Yu and
Darby Rogers followed with an 8-2 triumph of their own over Eric Doraci and Rene Rodriguez at the No. 2 spot. Juniors
Lars Jespersen and
Will Oberholtzer completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win over Daniel Gallegos and Pranav Marwaha at No. 1 singles.
Bogdan quickly dispatched Shields in straight-set 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 position before Rogers locked up the match early with his 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Doraci at No. 4 singles. Mandel defeated Thomas Kot 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and Jespersen downed Gallegos 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot. Oberholtzer took down Marwaha 6-1. 6-3 at the No. 2 spot and Yu closed out the match with a 6-2, 2-6 (10-8) thriller over Rodriguez at No. 3 singles.
The Bears return to action on tomorrow, March 7th as they will play two matches starting with St. Francis (Ill.) at 11:30 a.m. and King's at 6:00 p.m.
