ORLANDO, Fla. – The Ursinus women's tennis team picked up a pair of victories on Tuesday as they continued action in their Florida Spring Break Trip. The Bears downed Misericordia 6-3 in the early afternoon before sweeping King's 9-0 in the evening.
With the wins, the Bears improved to 5-1 overall while Misericordia dropped to 6-1 and the Monarchs fell to 0-3.
Ursinus took two of the first three doubles matches to go up 2-1 headed into singles play. Junior

Ava Compagnoni fell 8-4 at No. 2 doubles to Lydia Barbour and Hailey Loughlin.
Compagnoni dominated Teresa Thomas 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles before Stewart took down Loughlin 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. First-year
Fiona Finnerty bested Visalli 6-2, 7-5 at the No. 6 position and Samer downed Cridge 7-6 (3-0), 6-3 at No. 4 singles. Burke lost 3-6, 0-6 to Barbour at No. 2 singles while Pizzano defeated Armour at No. 1 singles due to retirement.
Against the Monarchs, it was all Bears as they swept the doubles matches to gain a 3-0 lead. After Vassalluzzo and Finnerty won by default at No. 3 singles, Burke and Compagnoni rebounded to win 8-0 over Braelan Drollas and Payton Lloyd at the No. 2 position. Samer and Stewart won in their pairing debut 8-4 over Ashley Kenia and Hailey D'Amato at No. 1 singles.
Finnerty won by default at No. 6 singles before Samer won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles over Drollas. Compagnoni bested Lloyd 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles while Stewart took down D'Amato by the same totals at the No. 2 position. Grace Maccarelli won her collegiate debut 6-3, 6-1 over Emma Rooney.
