Women's Tennis Downed by Franklin & Marshall

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Ursinus Bears women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 match to Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.
 
 
 
With the loss, the Bears fell to 9-9 overall and 1-6 in Centennial Conference action. Meanwhile, the Diplomats improved to 8-7 overall and 6-2 in conference play.
 
 
 
The Diplomats won all three doubles points to take the early 3-0 lead in the match. Sophomores Allie Armour and Shannon Stewart suffered an 8-1 setback to Jenna Harrison and Clara March Okuyama at the No. 1 position before senior Ava Compagnoni and first-year Bella Vassalluzzo fell 8-3 to Skye Victor and Hayley Bidwell at No. 3 doubles. Juniors Claire Burke and Avery Samer dropped an 8-3 decision to Cassidy Landau and Sammi Perry at the No. 2 spot.
 
 
 
In singles, Stewart was downed by March at the No. 3 position 6-1, 6-1 while Compagnoni suffered a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Perry at No. 5 singles. Armour fell 6-2, 6-3 to Landau at the No. 1 spot and first-year Fiona Finnerty dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision to Victor at No. 6 singles. Burke dropped a tight 6-3, 7-5 match to Sherman at No. 2 singles and Samer was edged 6-2, 7-6 (7-1) at No. 4 singles by Bidwell.
 
 
 
 The Bears will return to action on Friday, April 21st as they will travel to face Bryn Mawr at 4:00 p.m. for a Centennial Conference match.
