ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ursinus Gymnastics hit the road for the first time during the 2024 season as they competed against Ithaca in a NCGA East Regional dual meet on early Sunday afternoon.
The Bears recorded a team score of 185.350 which was a near full three point increase from the season opening score a week ago. Meanwhile, Ithaca scored a team score of 190.250.
Ursinus opened on the bars and showed vast improvement on the event and totaled a team score of 46.200. Junior
Adison Tanguay led the Bears and tied for fourth overall with a score of 9.350. Her classmate
Megan Matteucci followed with a 9.3 and finished sixth overall while sophomore
Brianna Duffy finished with a 9.250. First-year
Lauren Coleman totaled a 9.2 in her bars scoring debut and classmate
Erin Roe posted a 9.1
The Bears were next onto the vault where they finished with a team score of 45.700. Senior
Carly Troilo paced Ursinus with a 9.475 that was good for fourth overall. Sophomore
Sidney Schreiber was just behind Troilo with a 9.450 in her 2024 debut and first-year
Bella Leo was third among Bears gymnasts in the vault with a score of 9.350. Senior
Ashley Cromer scored a 9.325 and finished eighth overall in the event.
First-year
Arianna Ellis once again impressed on the floor as she led Ursinus with a 9.650 that built off her 9.6 debut last Sunday. Ellis finished fourth overall while junior
Daria Gregory and first-year
Lucy Warburton tied each other with a score of 9.225.
Ursinus finished the day with their strongest performance of the four events by posting a 47.575 on the beam which was the highest team total for the event since recording a 47.625 at Kent State in late February 2020. Warburton stole the show for the Bears with a 9.7 that placed her second overall. Junior
Isabella Scarpetti registered a career-high 9.6 to finish second on the team and fourth overall while sophomore
Adrienne Roth recorded a 9.525 that was a full .5 higher than her score last week in her debut. Leo tallied a 9.450 that tied for sixth overall and junior
Madison Zimmerman followed with a 9.3. Ellis rounded out the Bears on the beam with a score of 9.050.
The Bears return to action on Friday, January 26th as they will travel to Bridgeport to take on the host Purple Knights, Alaska, and Rhode Island College for a 5:00 p.m. start.
