BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Ursinus Gymnastics team was clicking on all cylinders and registered their highest team score since 2017 at the Bridgeport Quad Meet on Friday evening.
The Bears posted a score of 190.025 which was the first time since March 2017 against West Chester that they posted at least a 190 as a team. Ursinus finished third overall of the four teams behind Bridgeport and Alaska-Anchorage while defeating fellow NCGA East member Rhode Island College.
Ursinus started on the beam, their biggest strength so far of the 2024 season, and continued to shine in the event as they recorded a total score of 47.875, their highest on the beam since March 2017 at Brockport. First-year
Bella Leo and junior
Madison Zimmerman each paced the Bears with a 9.725 while tying for sixth overall. Leo's mark was a personal best while Zimmerman had her highest score since posting a 9.8 in 2022. First-year
Erin Roe was the third Bear posting at least a 9.7 that easily topped her career best and sophomore
Adrienne Roth followed suite by scoring a personal best 9.6. First-years
Lucy Warburton and
Arianna Ellis rounded out the beam lineup with scores of 9.125 and 9.075, respectively.
The Bears moved onto the floor where they registered a new team season-high score for the event with a 47.400. Junior
Megan Matteucci dazzled and matched her career best score of 9.750 while tying for third overall. Senior
Carly Troilo and sophomore
Sidney Schreiber each recorded a 9.475 that tied for second overall on the team. Ellis followed by earning a 9.425 and junior
Daria Gregory tallied a score of 9.275.
Ursinus carried its momentum into the vault and posted a season-high team score of 47.550. Roe stepped up in a big way for the Bears by landing a 9.750 that tied for second overall and has recorded at least a 9.6 in both times she has competed on the vault in 2024. Schreiber registered a 9.550 that placed her second on the team and tied for ninth overall. Troilo posted a 9.450 while Leo topped her previous career best score with a 9.425. Junior
Erin Stubbs tallied a 9.375 in her 2024 debut and senior
Ashley Cromer rounded out the lineup with a 9.1
The Bears completed their strong night with a balanced effort on the uneven bars that added up to a 47.200, their highest team score since a 47.3 against West Chester in 2022. Junior
Adison Tanguay starred on the bars once again for the Bears as she posted a 9.550, topping her previous career best of 9.425. Sophomore
Brianna Duffy finished second among the Ursinus gymnasts on the Bars with a career best of 9.475 and Troilo topped her previous career best score as well with a 9.450. Matteucci and first-year
Lauren Coleman each tallied a 9.350 to tie for fourth overall on the team.
Ursinus returns to action on Sunday, February 4th as they will host West Chester in dual meet action at 1:00 p.m. for its senior day.
