ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Behind a goal apiece in the second half, the Ursinus College men's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw in a road contest against Muhlenberg College on Saturday afternoon from Varsity Field.

With the draw, Ursinus moves to 6-5-2 overall and sit at 0-5-1 in Centennial Conference play. Meanwhile, the Mules sit at 8-3-4 on the season and 2-1-3 in conference action. Junior midfielder Colin Deal scored the lone goal for the Bears, his second score of the season while sophomore Declan Curran secured his third assist of the campaign.

The Mules tallied the opening shot of the contest as they missed high of the net after a corner kick chance at the 4:10-mark. Just two minutes later, Muhlenberg's Owen Zoller's scoring opportunity deflected off the post to keep the contest scoreless. Ursinus responded with back-to-back shots as senior Patrick Tormey had his chance blocked, while classmate Jack Schmidt missed high of the goal. The Bears defense and senior netminder Zach Matik made a pair of stops midway through the first half to keep the game tied at zero. Muhlenberg recorded a string of corner kicks, but Ursinus turned away each opportunity as the teams entered halftime scoreless.

Ursinus broke the scoreless drought in the 69th minute as they successfully converted on a throw in attempt in the Muhlenberg defensive zone. Junior AJ Torres launched a throw into the box, finding Curran and he headed towards Deal to put the Bears ahead by one. With 12:47 remaining in the contest, Ursinus nearly extended their lead to two as senior Luke Luehrs recorded a shot on goal, but it was saved by the Muhlenberg netminder. With under six minutes remaining in the second half, Muhlenberg's Sim Dorsey connected on a goal resulting in the 1-1 draw for both squads.
