Women's Soccer Draws Gettysburg on Senior Day

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's soccer team battled throughout the contest but could not find the go-ahead goal earning a 2-2 draw against Gettysburg College on Saturday afternoon from Patterson Field.

The Bears celebrated seven seniors on the afternoon as Rianne Moll, Kayla Harvey, Carlie Shiller, Grace Senese, Tehya Harvey, Olivia Losurdo and Mandy Carideo were recognized prior to the game for their dedication and commitment to the Ursinus College women's soccer team over the last four seasons.

The Bears broke the scoreless during the 10th minute as Ursinus connected on a set piece during a corner kick opportunity. On the play, Senese fired a cross into the box that deflected off a Bullet defender but found junior Paige Flaugh with space in the box. Flaugh fired a shot towards the left post and found Kayla Harvey who tapped in the chance for the score. Gettysburg answered back at the 17:43-mark as the initial shot from Carli Cameron deflected off the crossbar but found teammate Elodie Reeves corralled the rebound for a tap in goal. Each defense stepped up to deny a few chances from the opposing offenses, until first-year Emma Woch recorded her second career score with a goal at the 41:40-mark. After the Bears intercepted a pass, Woch beat a defender before creating space towards the top of the box. She fired a shot towards the far post to beat a diving attempt from the Bullets netminder to give Ursinus a 2-1 halftime lead.

Gettysburg opened the second half with the game-tying goal as Jane Daiutolo erased the Bears lead to tie the contest at two apiece. At the 59:56-mark, first-year Kaleigh Evans nearly gave Ursinus the lead as her scoring chance missed wide left of the goal to keep the game tied. Later in the contest, Woch recorded back-to-back shots during the 89th minute, but each opportunity missed high as the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Gettysburg held a 23-8 advantage in shots and totaled a 6-1 lead in corner kick opportunities. In goal, Carideo reached double-digit saves for the third time this season collecting ten saves, while Gettysburg's Alex Jurrow allowed two goals without a save over 90 minutes of action.

Women's Soccer closes out the 2024 season with a 5-7-5 overall record and will look to make a Centennial Conference playoff berth next season.
