WEST CHESTER, Pa. – For the second straight week, the Ursinus Gymnastics team competed alongside the West Chester Golden Rams in dual meet action. The venue shifted to West Chester on Saturday to complete the home-and-home series between the two local Southeast Pennsylvania schools.
The Bears valiantly fought to a score of 186.575 behind scores of 47.550 on the floor, 47.225, 45.925 on the bars, and 45.875 on the beam. West Chester posted a score of 193.850 as a team behind totals of 48.925 on the floor, 48.475 on the beam, 48.275 on the vault, and 48.175 on the bars.
Ursinus opened on the bars and sophomore
Adrienne Roth paced the Bears while finishing sixth overall in her scoring debut on the bars with a 9.275. Junior
Adison Tanguay was right behind with a 9.250 and senior
Carly Troilo earned a score of 9.225. Junior
Megan Matteucci recorded a 9.125 and first-year
Lauren Coleman finished with a 9.050 on the bars.
The Bears stayed consistent on the vault as Matteucci impressed with a career-high best of 9.525 which also tied her for sixth overall. First-year Erin Roe was second among the Bears at a 9.5 while a trio of gymnasts: junior Erin Stubbs, senior Ashley Cromer, and Troilo all finished with a 9.4
The highest team total of the day for the Bears came on the floor as the top three for the Bears posted at least a 9.625. First-year
Arianna Ellis showed out with a season-high 9.7 to lead the Bears and finish sixth overall. Matteucci finished her strong day with a 9.650 while Cromer registered a career-high score of 9.625. Sophomore
Daria Gregory and Troilo each tallied a 9.250 while first-year
Bella Leo rounded out the Ursinus gymnasts with a 9.150.
Cromer led the Bears on the balance team to conclude the meet with her season best score of 9.550 and finished sixth overall. Leo was next at a 9.425 and junior
Madison Zimmerman earned a score of 9.350.
Ursinus will return to action on Friday, February 16th as they will head to Philadelphia for a quad meet at Temple with the host Owls, Bridgeport, and Southern Connecticut State at 6:00 p.m.
