PHILADELPHIA – First-year
Erin Roe broke the Ursinus Gymnastics vault school record as the Bears put in another sizzling effort at the Ken Anderson Invitational hosted by Temple University on Friday night.
The Bears posted a team score of 189.625 which was the team's second highest score of the season. The score was recorded behind a total of 48.025 on the vault and 47.925 on the floor, 46.850 on the balance beam, and 46.825 on the uneven bars. The vault and floor scores were new season-high scores for Bears on those respective events. Temple paced the quad meet with a team score of 194.875, Southern Connecticut State placed second with a 192.375, and Bridgeport came in third at a 191.875.
Roe registered a score of 9.825 on the vault that topped the previous school record of 9.8 that was set by Kristin Aichele and Kristina Steffenhagen at the 2015 NCGA East Regionals. Continuing a breakout collegiate debut season, Roe finished third overall in the meet and helped lead a Bears vault team score that was the highest since a 48.325 at the 2015 NCGA National Championships and fourth-highest in program history. Along with Roe's dazzling showing, five other Bears recorded at least a 9.4 on the vault Friday. Senior
Ashley Cromer set a new career best of 9.7 and sophomore
Sidney Schreiber followed with a 9.525. Junior
Erin Stubbs earned a 9.5 while senior
Carly Troilo tallied a 9.475 and junior
Megan Matteucci rounded out the Bears by matching her career best of a 9.4.
Ursinus kept their hot start going on the floor by setting a new season high team total of 47.925. Matteucci and Schreiber tied for the team lead with a 9.7 and first-year
Arianna Ellis finished third on the team with a score of 9.575. First-year
Bella Leo earned a season best 9.5, junior
Daria Gregory posted a 9.475, and Troilo concluded the Bears totals with a 9.3.
Leo shined on the bars for Ursinus as she led the team with a 9.550 that toppled her previous season best easily. Sophomore
Adrienne Roth and Roe each posted scores of 9.350 that tied for second-highest on the team while first-year
Lauren Coleman tallied a score of 9.325. Sophomore
Brianna Duffy finished with a score of 9.250 and Matteucci wrapped up the Ursinus scores on the bars with a 9.175.
Junior
Madison Zimmerman turned in a strong showing on the beam by leading Ursinus with her score of 9.675. Leo capped off a solid night with a score of 9.6 on the beam and Roe earned a 9.4 to finish third among team scores. Ellis scored a 9.125, Cromer followed with a 9.050, and first-year
Lucy Warburton tallied a 9.0 to round out the team.
The Bears return to action on Sunday, February 25th as they will travel up to Brockport for a tri-meet with the host Golden Eagles and Springfield at 2:00 p.m.
