COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Gymnastics team celebrated senior day by with another strong performance against West Chester on Sunday afternoon at Helfferich Hall.
The Bears posted a team score of 189.300 which continued a sizzling stretch for the team after posting their highest team score since 2017 last Friday. The score was made up of new season high scores of 47.775 on the vault and 47.650 on the floor, 47.375 on the balance beam, and 46.500 on the uneven bars. West Chester paced the meet with a total team score of 193.550 that consisted totals of 48.650 on floor, 48.525 on the bars, 48.225 on the vault, and 48.150 on the beam.
Prior to the meet, Ursinus honored its three senior student-athletes:
Ashley Cromer,
Carly Troilo, and
Elisabeth Tucker as a part of senior day ceremonies.
Ursinus opened the meet with their best score on the vault and saw all six student-athletes competing for scores post at least a 9.350. First-year
Erin Roe started what ended up being a standout day by leading the team with a 9.650 that also tied for second overall. Sophomore
Sidney Schreiber followed with a season-high 9.575 that tied for sixth overall and junior
Erin Stubbs plus Cromer both registered a score of 9.550. Troilo tallied a 9.450 for the second straight week and junior
Megan Matteucci rounded out the Bears with a season-high 9.350.
The Bears stayed consistent on the bars after last week's breakout score of 47.200 and Roe led the Bears again with a personal best of 9.450. Sophomore
Brianna Duffy was second on the Bears with a 9.325 and Matteucci recorded her third 9.3 of the season on the event. First-year
Lauren Coleman earned a score of 9.275 while Troilo and junior
Adison Tanguay posted scores of 9.150 and 9.100, respectively.
It was Roe once again scoring the highest among the Ursinus gymnasts on the beam with a 9.575, edging Cromer in her season debut on the event at a 9.5. First-year
Bella Leo tallied a score of 9.475 to finish third among Bears gymnasts while junior
Madison Zimmerman was .1 behind her at 9.375. Sophomore
Adrienne Roth was scored a 9.350 and first-year
Arianna Ellis capped the Bears with a 9.175.
Ursinus topped their one-week old floor team score easily as Schreiber led the way with a dazzling 9.750 showing that tied her for third overall. Matteucci finished seventh overall with a 9.550 and junior
Daria Gregory turned in her best floor showing of the season at a 9.475. Ellis matched Gregory with a 9.475 as well while Troilo finished with a 9.4.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, February 10th as they will complete the home-and-home series with the Golden Rams at West Chester starting at 1:00 p.m.
