COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Tennis team continued its scorching start to the spring portion of their schedule as they earned a resounding 8-1 win over Marymount on Saturday afternoon at the Ursinus Tennis courts.
With the win, the Bears improved to 7-1 overall behind its sixth-straight win since the start of March. Meanwhile the Saints fell to 3-3 overall.
Ursinus won two of the three doubles matches to take the lead into singles play. The first-year duo of
Teddy Snyder and
Deniz Finkel opened things up at the No. 3 spot with a dominant 8-2 win over Jose Torrecillas and Adam Stanulis. Seniors
Ethan Yu and
Darby Rogers followed with an 8-1 triumph at the No. 2 spot over Nathaniel Tesfaye and DJ Zeiler. The Saints got its lone point of the match when Nicolas Stromberg and Eshan Degamwar edged seniors
Lars Jespersen and
Will Oberholtzer 8-6 at No. 1 doubles.
It was a clean sweep for the Bears in singles action that started with Yu picking up right where he left off in Florida with a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot over Torrecillas. Snyder took down Zeiler 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 4 spot while Jespersen earned the match-clinching point with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Stromberg at No. 1 singles. Rogers outlasted Degamwar 6-4, 4-6, (10-8) at No. 3 singles before Bogdan bested Tesfaye 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 6 spot. Finkel finished things off with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Stanulis at the No. 5 spot.
The Bears return to action on Tuesday, March 19th as they will travel to face Division II West Chester at 4:00 p.m.
