YORK, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over York today in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.
With the win, the Bears improved to 8-1 overall as they earned their seventh straight win to keep their unbeaten start to the spring going. Meanwhile, the Spartans fell to 1-7 overall.
The Bears hit the ground running as all three doubles teams did not drop a single point to the Spartans. Seniors
Lars Jespersen and
Will Oberholtzer swept Ben Dorsey and Jason Lutz 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot right before the first-year duo of
Teddy Snyder and
Deniz Finkel followed by the same score over Ian Bartles and Emmet Larson at No. 3 doubles. Seniors
Ethan Yu and
Darby Rogers completed the 6-0, 6-0 trend with a win over Evan Stehman and Hayden Musser at the No. 2 position.
Finkel became the first of four Bears to sweep every singles and doubles point they competed in on the afternoon by downing Larson 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5 spot. Sophomore
Andrei Bogdan swept Bartles 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 spot to clinch the match and Jespersen cruised past Dorsey 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Snyder defeated Musser 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 4 spot before Rogers took down Stehman 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 3 position. Yu completed the match with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Lutz at No. 2 singles.
Ursinus returns to action on Saturday, March 30th as they will open Centennial Conference play by hosting Gettysburg at 1:00 p.m.
