PISCATAWAY, N.J. – In their final meet before NCGA East Regionals, the Ursinus gymnastics team kept its consistency going at the Rutgers Quad Meet on Saturday afternoon. The Bears competed against the Scarlet Knights, Cornell, and West Chester in the meet.
The Bears totaled a team score of 189.725, their third highest of the season, behind event scores of 47.850 on the vault, 46.700 on the bars, 48.000 on the beam, and 47.175 on the floor. Rutgers won the meet with a score of 195.325 followed by Cornell with a 193.375 and the Golden Rams at a 190.700.
Sophomore
Sidney Schreiber recorded the highest score among the Bears on the floor with a 9.725, her third time totaling at least a 9.7 this season for the event. First-year
Arianna Ellis followed with a 9.675 that continued her strong collegiate debut season on the floor and junior
Isabella Scarpetti posted a season-high 9.325. Senior
Carly Troilo finished with a 9.250, junior
Daria Gregory earned a 9.200, and junior
Megan Matteucci rounded out the scores with a 9.025.
First-year
Erin Roe led the Bears and tied for 10th overall on the vault with a 9.7 and has recorded a 9.6 in every single meet she has competed on the vault this season. Schreiber was just behind at a 9.650 and senior
Ashley Cromer followed with a 9.575. Troilo registered a career best 9.550 on the vault and junior
Erin Stubbs finished with a 9.375.
Roe was on her game on the bars as well as she led the team with a season best 9.5 and sophomore
Adrienne Roth followed suit with a career best score of her own for the event at a 9.425. Sophomore
Kylie Ruggiero was next at a 9.4, classmate
Brianna Duffy posted a 9.275, and first-year
Lauren Coleman scored a 9.1.
The Bears were excellent on the beam as three gymnasts earned a 9.7 on the event. Junior
Madison Zimmerman led the team and tied for fifth overall with a 9.750 which was her highest score since her career best total of 9.8 set at Towson in 2022. Roe and Roth were next at a 9.7 as Roe recorded her third straight 9.7 on the beam while Roth set a career best total. Ellis set a new season best with a 9.575 on the beam and Cromer finished with a 9.275.
Ursinus now sets its sights on the 2024 NCGA East Regionals on Saturday, March 9th that will be hosted by Ithaca at 1:00 p.m. The top two finishing teams at the meet along with two at-large teams between the two regions will receive an automatic berth to the 2024 NCGA Championships at Ursinus.
