YORK, Pa. – The Ursinus Women's Tennis team overcame an early deficit to outlast York 5-4 on the road on a blustery Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.
With the win, the Bears improved to 8-2 overall and have won six of their last seven matches. Meanwhile, the Spartans fell to 1-7 overall.
Facing extremely windy conditions throughout the day, the Spartans won two of the three doubles matches to gain the upper hand into singles. Senior

Bella Vassalluzzo suffered an 8-1 setback to Hannah Sult and Maddi Haggerty at the No. 2 spot before the first-year duo of
Caroline Daly and
Julia Nitz got the Bears on the board at the No. 3 spot with an 8-4 triumph over Eleanor Beck and Kennedy Conte. Junior
Allie Armour and
Avery Samer dropped an 8-5 No. 1 singles match to Elsa Oestermarker and Bri Serruto.
York went up 3-1 in the match after sophomore
Kate Rubinkam was defeated 1-6, 2-6 by Beck at the No. 5 singles spot and got within match point after Armour dropped a 4-6, 2-6 decision to Oestermarker at the No. 1 spot. Daly kept the Bears alive with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Haggerty at the No. 4 spot before Burke followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles over Sult. Sophomore
Fiona Finnerty took down Conte 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6 singles which left the match deciding point to No. 3 singles. Samer delivered in the clutch and bested Serruto 6-4, 7-5 to win the match for the Bears.
Ursinus returns to action on Saturday, March 23rd as they will travel to face St. Mary's (Md.) at 1:00 p.m.
