COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus women's tennis suffered an 8-1 setback to Gettysburg on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.
With the loss, the Bears fell to 8-3 overall and will start 0-1 in Centennial Conference play. Meanwhile, the Bullets improved to 8-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
The Bullets won two of the three doubles matches to gain the advantage into doubles action. The first-year duo of
Caroline Daly and
Morgan Coupe bested Catherine Haley and Eden Levkov 8-5 at the No. 3 spot to earn the lone Bears point of the match. Senior
Claire Burke and sophomore
Bella Vassalluzzo suffered an 8-2 setback to Sarah Guistwite and Gillian Rozenfeld at the No. 2 spot while junior
Allie Armour and senior
Avery Samer were dealt an 8-5 setback by Andrea Brazyte and Avery Palandjian at No. 1 doubles.
Daly dropped a 0-6, 0-6 decision to Rozenfeld at No. 4 singles and Samer fell to Palandjian 1-6, 0-6 at the No. 3 spot. Armour dropped a 1-6, 1-6 decision to Brazyte at the No. 1 position while Burke was downed 2-6, 1-6 at No. 2 singles by Guistwite. Sophomore
Kate Rubinkam was defeated 1-6, 2-6 by Levkov at the No. 5 spot and sophomore
Fiona Finnerty dropped a tough 1-6, 6-3, (10-12) match at No. 6 singles to Emma Ward.
The Bears return to action on Wednesday, April 3rd as they will travel to face Haverford in Centennial Conference action at 4:00 p.m.
