COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – A pair of Ursinus College gymnasts competed in the 2024 NCGA National Championship held at Helfferich Hall on Saturday afternoon.
First-year
Erin Roe and sophomore
Kylie Ruggiero represented the Bears as they hosted their first NCGA Championship meet since 2006. UW-Oshkosh won their third-straight NCGA Championship behind a team score of 194.975 and edged UW-Whitewater who scored a 193.575.
Roe recorded a score of 9.675 on the vault to tie for 12th overall among a field of 52. She capped a breakout collegiate debut season that saw her record at least a 9.5 in all eight meets she competed in on the vault and a 9.6 in seven of the eight. She comes away with a school record in her pocket behind her 9.825 at Temple in February.
Ruggiero tallied a score of 9.575 on the bars which tied for 23rd overall in a field of 48. Her performance completed a tremendous comeback story by emerging as a star on the bars for Ursinus in such a short amount of time. Like Roe, Ruggiero comes away from 2024 with a school record as well behind her mark of 9.825 at the NCGA East Regionals.
