Men's Tennis Cruises Past Wittenberg, 7-2

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Ursinus Men's Tennis team earned a decisive 7-2 win over Wittenberg on Monday afternoon as they opened their Florida Spring Break trip at Winter Park Tennis Center.
 
 
With the win, the Bears improved to 2-1 in their first match since September while the Tigers fell to 1-7.
 
 
Seniors Darby Rogers and Ethan Yu continued their doubles success as they earned an 8-2 victory over the duo of Mark Trinka and Henry Smith-Heston at No. 2 doubles. First-years Deniz Finkel and Teddy Snyder took down Jacob Bennett and Sven Eerenbeemt at No. 3 doubles by a score of 8-4 while the No. 1 pairing of seniors Lars Jespersen and Will Oberholtzer were defeated by the same total by Ethan Libby and Kyle Fout.
 
 
Up 2-1 heading into singles, Ursinus closed the win out by taking five of the six matches to secure the win. Jespersen bounced back with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Libby at the No. 1 spot and Yu bested Fout 7-5, 6-1 at the No. 2 position. Snyder downed Bennett 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 4 spot and Finkel took down Andrew Garofoli 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 5 spot. Sophomore Andrei Bogdan defeated Eerenbeemt 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6 singles and Rogers suffered the lone setback in singles play for Ursinus as he dropped a 5-7, 2-6 match at the No. 3 position to Trinka.
 
 
Ursinus returns to action tomorrow, March 5th as they will play two matches starting with St. John Fisher at 10:00 a.m. before taking on King's at 6:30 p.m.
