WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Ursinus Women's Tennis team was defeated 8-1 by Wittenberg on Monday afternoon as they opened their Florida Spring Break trip at Winter Park Tennis Center.
The Bears suffered their first loss of the season while the Tigers pushed their unbeaten streak to 7-0.
Wittenberg won all three doubles matches on the afternoon to gain the early advantage. Junior

Avery Samer suffered an 8-4 setback at No. 1 singles to Caroline Sproule and Kylie Wilson. Senior
Claire Burke and sophomore
Bella Vassalluzzo were downed 8-2 at the No. 2 spot by Sophia Pischalko and Breanna Ball while the first-year duo of
Caroline Daly and
Morgan Coupe fell by the same score to Claire Loomis and Lilly Hartman at the No. 3 position.
Samer earned the lone point in the match for the Bears with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Loomis at the No. 3 position. Armour was downed by Sproule 2-6, 0-6 at No. 1 singles while Burke dropped a 4-6, 1-6 match at No. 2 singles to Wilson. Daly was defeated by Pischalko 2-6, 3-6 at No. 4 singles and sophomore
Kate Rubinkam suffered a 4-6, 0-6 setback to Ball at the No. 5 spot. Sophomore
Fiona Finnerty lost 1-6, 4-6 to Hartman at the No. 6 position.
The Bears return to action tomorrow, March 5th as they will play two matches starting with St. John Fisher at 10:00 a.m. before taking on King's at 6:30 p.m.
