ORLANDO, Fla. – The Ursinus Men's Tennis team stayed unbeaten down on their Florida trip Thursday morning as they defeated Concordia Moorhead 7-2 at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Campus.
With the win the Bears improved to 5-1 overall while the Cobbers fell to 1-9.
Ursinus opened the match by winning two of the three doubles matches to gain the early advantage at 2-1. The first-year duo of
Teddy Snyder and
Deniz Finkel continued their strong trip with an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles over Daniel Skrade and Hunter Rice. Seniors
Ethan Yu and
Darby Rogers followed with an 8-3 win at the No. 2 spot over Kai Kringlie and Logan Sandberg before seniors
Lars Jespersen and
Will Oberholtzer dropped an 8-5 decision to Kai Pierce and Isaac Maddock.
Sophomore
Andrei Bogdan opened the singles action with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Skrade at the No. 6 spot and Finkel followed with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Rice at the No. 5 position. Snyder locked up the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles over Kringlie and Rogers suffered a tough 7-5, 1-6, (5-10) setback to Maddoc in No. 3 singles. Yu edged Pierce 7-6, 6-4 at the No. 2 spot for his 50th overall career win and Jespersen closed things out with a 6-0, 7-5 win over Sandberg at the No. 1 position.
The Bears return to action tomorrow, March 8th as they will finish up their Florida trip against St. John's (Minn.) at the USTA National Campus starting at 11:00 a.m.
