ORLANDO, Fla. – The Ursinus Women's Tennis team wrapped up its Florida Spring Break Trip with an 8-1 setback to College of St. Benedict on Friday at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Campus.
The Bears conclude their spring break trip 4-2 and hold a 6-2 overall record after the match.
The Bennies won all three doubles matches on the afternoon. Junior
Allie Armour and senior
Avery Samer suffered an 8-2 setback at No. 1 singles to Peyton Kopel and Greta Nesbit. The first-year duo of
Caroline Daly and
Julia Nitz were downed 8-5 at the No. 3 spot by Kate Perbix and Brooke Beier while Senior
Claire Burke and sophomore
Bella Vassalluzzo dropped a tough 8-7 (7-1) match at No. 2 doubles to Jane Bodensteiner and Sophia Jonas.
Armour won the lone point for the Bears to complete a week where she went 5-1 at No. 1 singles after taking down Kopel 7-6 (4-0), 6-4. Sophomore
Fiona Finnerty was downed by Ryanna Steinhaus 0-6, 2-6 at No. 6 singles before Samer dropped a 2-6, 2-6 match at No. 3 singles to Bodensteiner. Sophomore
Kate Rubinkam was defeated by Beier 2-6, 1-6 at No. 5 singles and sophomore Burke suffered a 2-6, 2-6 setback to Nesbit at the No. 2 spot. Daly lost 4-6, 2-6 to Jonas at the No. 4 position.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, March 16th as they will host Marymount (Va.) at 1:00 p.m.
