ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ursinus Gymnastics team battled through a very competitive and close 2024 NCGA East Regional Meet at Ithaca College on Saturday afternoon. The Bears finished fifth overall in the team standings with a team score of 190.275, their second highest total of the season.

Brockport and Cortland earned the team automatic qualifiers for the 2024 NCGA National Championship that will be held at Helfferich Hall in two weeks.
The Bears score of 190.275 was made up of a vault score of 48.125, bars score of 47.050, beam score of 46.275, and floor total of 48.375.
Ursinus opened on the beam and junior
Madison Zimmerman led the Bears with a score of 9.675 that tied for eighth overall. First-years
Arianna Ellis and
Erin Roe each recorded scores of 9.450 which tied for second highest on the team while senior
Ashley Cromer tallied a 9.175.
Following a bye, the Bears turned to the floor where they turned in their highest team event score of the day in a dynamic showing. Sophomore
Sidney Schreiber led Ursinus and was a part of a five-way tie for sixth place as she matched her career best of 9.8. Junior
Megan Matteucci was next with a 9.750 and finished 14th overall while Cromer edged her career best with a 9.675. Ellis recorded a total of 9.650 and junior
Daria Gregory matched her season best on the floor with a 9.5. Junior
Isabella Scarpetti rounded out the Bears scores with a 9.350.
Ursinus kept itself in the race for the top two scores with one of its best overall showings as a team on the vault. The Bears team total of 48.125 was the highest for the event since setting the team record of 48.375 at the 2015 East Regionals. Roe tied for fourth with a team high score of 9.750 to put herself in a good position to earn an individual berth at the NCGA Championships. Schreiber was just behind with a 9.725 to finish tied for sixth overall and Cromer finished with a 9.650 while placing 12th overall. Matteucci and junior

Valentina Hurtado recorded a career best score of 9.475.
The Bears moved to the bars and were highlighted by a stunning performance from sophomore
Kylie Ruggiero as she set the school record with a score of 9.825. Ruggiero, who had been heating up for the past month on the bars, tied for second overall and topped the mark of 9.8 set by
Alyssa DeLorme in 2022. Matteucci posted a 9.450 and sophomore
Brianna Duffy recorded a score of 9.425. First-year
Lauren Coleman tallied a 9.3 while Roe finished with a 9.050
