COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Ursinus Bears men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 contest to No. 39 Haverford on Wednesday afternoon in Centennial Conference play.
The Bears opened the match with the first point when the No. 1 senior doubles duo of
Lars Jespersen and
Will Oberholtzer defeated Kirin Eicher and James McKenzie 8-5. However, the Fords responded by taking the next two doubles points. Seniors
Ethan Yu and
Darby Rogers were downed 8-4 by Justin Minerva and Adam Chow at No. 2 doubles before the first-year No. 3 doubles duo of
Deniz Finkel and
Noah Dichter suffered an 8-6 loss to Daniel Loder and Max Beckwith.
In singles, Oberholtzer was bested by Minerva 1-6, 3-6 at No. 4 singles and Rogers was defeated by Chow 4-6, 0-6 at the No. 3 spot. First-year
Teddy Snyder fell 3-6, 1-6 to Niki Lavu at No. 5 singles that clinched the match for the Fords while Yu was edged by Stefan Johnson 4-6, 6-7 (5-7) at the No. 2 position. Finkel dropped a tough 3-6, 6-7 (3-7) match to Krishna Chait at No. 6 singles and Jespersen was bested by Aiden Kim at No. 1 singles by scores of 4-6, 1-6.
The Bears return to action tomorrow, April 25th as they will travel to face West Chester for a 4:00 p.m. start.
