CARLISLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Tennis team earned a convincing 7-2 win over Dickinson in Centennial Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Bears earned their 10th win of the season to move to 10-2 overall and 2-1 in Centennial Conference action. Meanwhile, the Red Devils fell to 7-5 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
Ursinus took two of the three doubles matches to gain the lead into singles play. Seniors
Lars Jespersen and
Will Oberholtzer opened with a dominant 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles over DJ Finnell and Levi Veleanu. The first-year No. 3 doubles duo of
Deniz Finkel and
Teddy Snyder were downed 6-8 by Drew Allen and Eddy Chow before seniors
Darby Rogers and
Ethan Yu won an 8-6 decision of their own at the No. 2 spot over Romano De Caprio and Will Lewis.
Snyder extended the Bears lead at the No. 4 singles spot by besting Lewis 6-4, 6-1 and Jespersen took down Veleanu 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot. Yu locked up the win for the Bears at No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 7-5 win over De Caprio and Rogers edged Finnell 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 3 position. Finkel defeated Chow 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 5 spot and sophomore
Andrei Bogdan dropped a 5-7, 4-6 No. 6 singles match to Allen.
The Bears return to action on Wednesday, April 10th as they will host Franklin & Marshall in Centennial Conference play at 4:00 p.m.
