PHILADELPHIA - The Ursinus Gymnastics team built off their impressive opening meet by improving its team score by nearly full two points by competing against three Division I opponents at the Penn Quad Meet on Friday night at the Palestra.
The Bears finished fourth by recording a team score of 188.425 behind totals of: 47.375 on the vault, 46.700 on the bars, 46.825 on the beam, and 47.525 on the floor. Towson won the meet with a team score of 195.600 and was followed by Penn in second at a 193.250 and Yale in third on a 191.500.
Ursinus started on the floor and had senior
Megan Matteucci replicate her 9.8 set a week ago at Cortland and tied for second overall in the meet. Junior
Sidney Schreiber was second among the Bears gymnasts with a 9.650 and sophomore
Lucy Warburton continued her consistent start on the floor in 2025 with a 9.5. Senior
Isabella Scarpetti recorded a 9.3 on the floor and sophomore
Erin Roe was next for Ursinus at a 9.275.
On the vault, Roe made Ursinus gymnastics history by becoming the first Bear in program history to compete on a Yurchenko 1.5 Vault and the first Bear to have a 10.0 SV since Kristin Aichele. Roe dazzled in her vault with a 9.725 to lead the team and tie for fifth overall. Schreiber followed with a 9.6 that was second on the team while Matteucci and classmate
Erin Stubbs each posted a 9.4. Senior
Madison Zimmerman registered a score of 9.250 on the vault.
Ursinus moved to the bars and improved its bars team score by over a full point. Ruggiero led the Bears once again on the event with a season high score of 9.6 and junior
Brianna Duffy was second on the team with a 9.350. Senior
Kyleigh Pierce set a new career high score on the bars with a 9.275 and was matched by Matteucci with the same total. Sophomore
Lauren Coleman added a score of 9.2 and Roe rounded out the scores with a 9.175.
The Bears wrapped things up on the beam where Zimmerman led the team with a 9.750 that was just off her career high score and tied her for sixth overall. Roe matched her career best of 9.7 on the beam and Schreiber was third on the team with a total of 9.375.
Roe improved on her all-around career high set a week ago by recording a total of 37.875 that was fifth among the gymnasts that competed in all four events and Matteucci completed her all-around debut with a 36.725 total.
Following the cancellation of Sunday's meet due to weather, the Bears now return to action on Sunday, February 2nd as they will compete in the Springfield Quad Meet alongside Ithaca and Rhode Island College at 1:00 p.m.
