ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Ursinus football team let a late fourth quarter lead slip away in their game against Muhlenberg, 39-36 on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference play.
Junior quarterback
Tristan Machado passed for 329 yards on 29-of-45 passing for 329 yards and four touchdowns. Senior wide receiver
Cody House caught seven passes for 80 yards and a touchdown while junior Ryder Zukowski caught four passes for 65 yards and a touchdown. Senior wide receiver
Markel Roberts-Jackson caught a touchdown as well with two passes for 52 yards.
The Bears gained the initial 7-0 lead at the 7:19-mark of the first quarter when Machado found Zulkowski on fourth-and-goal for a touchdown pass. Following a late first quarter interception from junior
Kendall Robinson, the Bears took advantage and extended their lead to 14-0 when Machado hit Roberts-Jackson for a 28-yard touchdown reception on 4
th and 14. Muhlenberg closed the half out with 19 straight points to take a 19-14 lead at halftime.
The Mules extended their lead to 25-14 in the third quarter after scoring on their opening drive of the second half before the Bears made it 25-22 after a 10-yard touchdown run from sophomore running back
Keigan Barnes. House caught a touchdown pass to give the Bears a 29-25 lead on the first play of the fourth quarter and Robinson snatched his second interception of the game two drives later to give Ursinus good field position. Machado found junior
Aidan Donahue for a 5-yard touchdown on 3
rd-and-Goal to put Ursinus up 36-25 with 8:34 left in regulation. However, the Mules scored two touchdowns in the final eight minutes, one coming off a fumble from the Bears.
