PHILADELPHIA – Three Ursinus football players were named to the 2025 PhillySIDA Academic All-Area team that was announcing on Friday morning.
Seniors
Jordan Carr and
Deane Leader along with junior
Tristan Machado earned spots on the team that was compiled of Division I, II, and III players.
The Academic All-Area Team, voted on by the sports information offices of 30 institutions in the Philadelphia metro area, requires a student-athlete to be in their second year at the school and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better.
Carr, Neuroscience, Biochemistry & Molecular Bio major, earned his second straight PhillySIDA Academic All-Area nod after capping his career as the Bears kicker and punter. Carr paced the Centennial Conference with a career best 43.4 punting average and recorded a career-long 62-yard punt. He tied for the Centennial Conference lead with five 50+ yard punts. Carr became the Bears all-time leader in career extra points as well.
A finance major, Leader overcame an injury in the season opener against Alvernia and returned to help power the Ursinus offense that ranked third in total offensive yards and third in passing yards. He earned All-Centennial Second Team honors for his third career All-Centennial honor in his career.
Machado, a finance major, exceled in his first season as the starting quarterback for Ursinus. He led the Centennial Conference in the regular season with 27 touchdown passes and 185 completions. Machado ranked second in the Centennial with 2,558 passing yards and ranked third by averaging 232.5 passing yards per game. He tallied a trio of 300+ yard passing games and four touchdown pass games.
