COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Basketball team used a big first half to score a 102-89 win over Haverford on Wednesday night in Centennial Conference action to clinch up a berth in the Centennial Conference Tournament.
With the win, the Bears improved to 14-8 overall and 7-3 in the Centennial Conference as they clinched a Centennial Conference Tournament berth for the fourth straight season. It was also the first time the Bears scored at least 100 points in a game since December 21st, 2021 when they scored 111 against Susquehanna. Meanwhile, the Fords fell to 5-17 overall and 2-8 in conference play.

Trevor Wall led all scorers with 30 points for his second 30+ point game of the season and tallied four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Junior
Mohamed Toure scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds while sophomore
Luke Nieman added 17 points off the bench plus grabbing three rebounds. Junior
Nick Nocito recorded a double-double of 12 points and 10 assists while stealing the ball seven times.
Ursinus went wire-to-wire for the win and started things off with a 6-0 run in the first minute of the contest. The Bears stretched its lead out to 13-1 at the 17:32-mark and held the Fords without a field goal for the first 2:51 of the game. Ursinus used a 14-4 run while leading 13-4 to go up 27-8 at the 12:39-mark as their hot-shooting continued. The Fords pulled within as close at 12 points at 33-21 following a 13-6 run but Ursinus maintained a double-digit lead for the rest of the first half. Ursinus built its lead back up and went up by as many as 22 points at 56-34 with 2:07 left in the first half. Wall capped the opening stanza with a three-pointer in the final minute and the Bears went up 59-38 at halftime.
Haverford made a run in the second half as they outscored the Bears 22-7 in the first 9:13 of the second half to make it a 66-60 game. Ursinus settled things down as they used a 14-5 run to go up 80-65 at the 8:47 which was capped by a three-pointer from Toure. The Bears staved off that Fords run by maintain a double-digit lead until Haverford briefly knocked it down to eight points at 94-86 with 1:26 remaining in regulation. Ursinus capped the game by going 6-of-6 from the free throw line down the stretch.
The Bears shot 45.6 percent from the field (31-of-68) and 35.1 percent (13-of-37) from three-point range. Ursinus went 69.2 percent (27-of-39) from the free throw line and held a decisive 44-32 rebounding advantage. Meanwhile, the Fords shot 52.7 percent (29-of-55) from the field and 48 percent (12-of-25) from three-point range. Haverford went 19-of-31 (61.3%) from the free throw line and had four scorers in double-figures led by Christian Uremovich who scored a team-high 17 points off the bench.
Ursinus returns to action on Saturday, February 15th as they will host Swarthmore for senior day at 3:00 p.m.
