COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Gymnastics team celebrated its eight seniors in a quad meet against William & Mary, Bridgeport, and West Chester on Sunday afternoon at Helfferich Hall.
In their final meet before NCGA East Regionals in two weeks, the Bears recorded a team score of 189.575 behind totals of 48.150 on the vault, 45.475 on the bars, 48.350 on the beam, and 47.600 on the floor. The vault and beam scores were season bests for Ursinus. William & Mary edged Bridgeport for the team title by posting a score of 192.075 to the Knights 192.050 and West Chester finished third on a 190.175.
Ursinus dazzled to start the meet on the vault and posted the teams highest score since the 2015 NCGA National Championships when they had a 48.325. The effort was spearheaded by the duo of sophomore
Erin Roe and junior
Sidney Schreiber who tied for second overall with a score of 9.750. First-year
Michaela Duffy matched her career best score of 9.625 and was third among the Bears gymnasts and senior
Erin Stubbs followed with a season best total of 9.575. Senior
Madison Zimmerman also posted a season best on the vault with a 9.450 and classmate
Megan Matteucci rounded out the Ursinus scores on a 9.375.
The Bears went on to the bars and junior
Kylie Ruggiero tied for fourth with her Ursinus high score of 9.550. Sophomore
Lauren Coleman was second for Ursinus after recording a 9.450 which was just off her career best to tie for ninth overall. Junior
Brianna Duffy was third for Ursinus on the bars with a 9.0.
The Bears had their highest beam score of the season and best since Brockport last February with a trio tying for the team high score at a 9.725. Stubbs was one of the three to hit that total which was a career best as she was one of the eight Ursinus seniors celebrated. Zimmerman matched her classmates total to keep her consistency on the event and Roe was the third Bear with that score to set a new career best. Sophomore
Lucy Warburton was next for Ursinus with her 9.625 and Ellis totaled a 9.550.
Ursinus wrapped things up on the floor where Ellis led the Bears for the second straight week with her 9.625 that tied for eighth overall. Matteucci tied for 10th overall with a 9.6 and Warburton was third for Ursinus with a 9.5. Schreiber added a 9.450 and Roe completed her day with a 9.425 and finished second in the all-around on a total of 37.625. Senior
Isabella Scarpetti rounded out the Ursinus scores with a 9.4.
The Bears have a week off before returning to action on Saturday, March 8th at the 2025 NCGA East Regionals hosted by Brockport at 1:00 p.m.
