Women's Tennis Defeated by Calvin in Florida Opener

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Ursinus Women's Tennis team began the Spring portion of its 2025 season on Monday morning and suffered a 6-1 setback to Calvin down in Orlando.
 
 
 
The Knights won all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Sophomore Morgan Coupe and first-year Katie Yu dropped a 6-0 contest to Ryan Morey and Julia Hooker at the No. 2 doubles spot. Juniors Fiona Finnerty and Kate Rubinkam fell 6-2 to Tessa Holman and Rachel Grissom at the No. 3 position before senior Allie Armour and sophomore Caroline Daly suffered a 6-3 loss to Catherine Grissom and Marina Ribeiro at the No. 1 spot.
 
 
 
Armour highlighted the Bears by winning the Bears lone point of the day with a thrilling 6-7 (1-7), 6-4, 10-5 win at the No. 1 singles spot over Holman. Rubinkam was defeated 0-6, 0-6 by Hooker at the No. 5 spot and junior Bella Vassalluzzo suffered a 3-6, 0-6 loss to Morey at the No. 6 singles position. Yu fell 0-6, 0-6 to Ana Clara Ornellas at No. 2 singles and Daly was bested 2-6, 4-6 by Grissom at No. 3 singles. Coupe dropped a 3-6, 2-6 match at No. 4 singles to Grissom and Armour completed the day with her win.
 
 
 
The Bears return to action tomorrow, March 11th as they will play a pair of matches starting with St. Scholastica at 12:00 p.m. and Covenant (GA) at 6:30 p.m.
