ORLANDO, Fla. – The Ursinus Men's Tennis team split on its second day down in Florida on Tuesday. The Bears won a thrilling 4-3 match over St. Scholastica before being swept 7-0 by Covenant in the evening.
The Bears record now stands at 3-3 following the split while St. Scholastica fell to 5-4 overall and Covenant improved to 6-3.
Ursinus 4, St. Scholastica 3
The Saints swept through the doubles matches to earn the first point of the match. Senior
Hunter Murray and first-year
Devin Carter dropped a 6-0 match to Alex Daigneault and Reece Patten at No. 3 doubles before junior
Andrei Bogdan and first-year
Charles DiCicco suffered a 6-2 setback to Dane Patten and Jack Onkka at the No. 2 spot. Sophomore
Teddy Snyder and first-year
Russell Nour were edged 7-6 in a tough No. 1 doubles match by Jonas Abeleda and Easmon Gerrard-Stace. Nour was bested 3-6, 3-6 by Gerrard-Stace at the No. 3 singles spot and Bogdan got the Bears on the board at the No. 5 spot with a 1-6, 6-3, 10-3 win over Onkka. Snyder also needed three sets to take down Patten 6-2, 2-6, 11-9 at No. 2 singles, but Finkel suffered the opposite fate 3-6, 6-2, 11-13 at No. 1 singles. Needing the final two singles matches to win, the Bears got them as Dichter defeated Dircks 7-6, 2-6, 10-5 at the No. 4 spot before DiCicco came through at No. 6 singles 7-5, 5-7, 14-12 over Shaffer in a marathon match.
Covenant 7, Ursinus 0
The Scots swept doubles to win in the first point of the match. Bogdan and DiCicco lost 6-0 to Mason Howard and Gavin Patton at No. 3 doubles before Snyder and Nour fell 6-2 to Brock Boehling and Graham Hayes at the No. 2 spot. Finkel and Dichter dropped a 6-2 match to Ben Onufrock and Caleb Domkowski at No. 1 doubles. Covenant won every singles point as well that started with Snyder dropping a 1-6, 2-6 match to Onufrock at No. 1 singles. Finkel was downed 3-6, 2-6 by Domkowski at the No. 2 spot and Dichter suffered a 4-6, 2-6 loss to Boehling at No. 4 singles. Bogdan was downed 1-6, 4-6 at the No. 5 position by Hayes and Nour lost 1-6, 6-7 to Ortega. Senior

Ursinus is back in action on Thursday, March 13th as they will take on Loras at 8:00 a.m.
