ORLANDO, Fla. – The Ursinus Men's Tennis team earned a 5-2 win over Loras as they continued their Florida Spring Break trip on Thursday morning.
With the win the Bears improved to 4-3 overall while the Duhawks fell to 3-8.
Loras opened with the lead after doubles play behind winning two of the three matches to earn the point. Sophomores
Teddy Snyder and
Deniz Finkel dropped a 6-4 No. 1 doubles match to Diego Mejias and Gage Becker while senior
Hunter Murray and first-year
Charles DiCicco lost 7-5 to Sam Canas Guerrero and Jackson Craig. Junior
Andrei Bogdan and first-year
Devin Carter outlasted Andrew Day and Jack Seda at the No. 3 spot 7-6 after winning the tiebreaker 7-1.
Bogdan opened the singles action with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep over Craig at the No. 5 spot and Snyder followed with a 4-6, 6-3, 10-3 win over Mejias at the No. 1 position. Snyder's match started a stretch of five of the six singles matches needing tiebreakers to decide them as DiCicco fell 2-6, 6-1, 7-10 to Henry Condo at the No. 6 singles spot. Sophomore
Noah Dichter put the Bears back in front with a thrilling 3-6, 6-4, 10-4 win over Canas Guerrero at the No. 3 spot and first-year
Russell Nour delivered the decisive point with a 6-1, 4-6, 13-11 win over Day at No. 4 singles. Finkel battled to a 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 10-1 win over Becker at the No. 2 spot to finish the match.
The Bears return to action tomorrow, March 14th as they will finish up their Florida trip against Northwestern (MN) at 1:30 p.m. at the USTA National Tennis Center.
