ORLANDO, Fla. – The Ursinus Men's Tennis team wrapped up its Florida Spring Break trip by rolling past Northwestern (MN) 7-0 on Friday afternoon at the UTSA National Center.
With the win, the Bears improved to 5-3 overall as they completed the week 3-2. Meanwhile, the Eagles fell to 2-9 overall.
Ursinus started with taking two of three of the doubles matches to gain the first point. Sophomores
Teddy Snyder and
Deniz Finkel earned a resounding 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles over Carson Haack and Griffen Jarchow. Sophomore
Noah Dichter and first-year
Russell Nour dropped a 6-2 No. 2 doubles match to Sam Majerus and Isaac Thomforde, but senior
Hunter Murray and first-year
Charles DiCicco outlasted Caleb Jergenson and Caleb Swigart 7-5 at No. 3 doubles to preserve the point.
Singles play was all Bears as they swept all six matches which started with DiCicco besting Jergenson 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 5 spot. Junior
Andrei Bogdan took down Thomforde 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 4 position and Finkel defeated Jarchow 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Dichter won a 6-3, 6-2 No. 3 singles match over Majerus and Murray won 6-1, 4-6, 10-4 No. 6 singles match over Swigart. Snyder completed the day with a tough 6-1, 5-7, 10-6 triumph at No. 1 singles over Haack.
The Bears return to action on Wednesday, March 19th as they will travel to face Drew at 3:30 p.m.
