COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Ursinus Men's Lacrosse team wrapped up its two-game spring break trip to Colorado College on Sunday afternoon. The Bears were defeated 18-9 after a big second half from the Tigers.
The Bears came out on fire as they scored three goals in the first 4:19 to take the early 3-0 advantage. Junior
Barrett Denlinger opened the scoring 45 seconds in before sophomore
Daniel Kupiec added another tally at the 11:55-mark. Sophomore
Jared Laskin completed the run and the Bears tallied two more scores to hold a 5-1 lead after the first quarter. The Bears countered the Tigers first goal of the game with goals from senior
Christopher Pucciarelli and junior
Chris Bryant. Colorado College notched the first goal of the second quarter at the 13:42-mark that made it 5-2, but junior
Harry Sweitzer answered the goal with one of his own at the 11:55-mark. However, the tide of the game turned when the Tigers closed the half out with four straight goals to tie the game at six at halftime. The Tigers stormed ahead with six goals in the third quarter while shutting out the Bears to go up 12-6. Junior
Aidan Kirk snapped a scoreless stretch of 29:33 at the 12:22-mark of the fourth quarter that made it a 13-7 game before the Tigers closed the game on a 5-2 run.
Ursinus held a 50-44 advantage in total shots, but the Tigers held a 28-26 advantage in shots on goal. Colorado College held a slight 26-25 edge in ground balls and Ursinus owned an 18-14 advantage in faceoff wins. Kirk led the Bears with three points on two goals and one assist while Pucciarelli added two goals.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, March 22nd as they will open Centennial Conference play at Franklin & Marshall at 12:00 p.m.
