COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus Men's Tennis team earned a dominant 7-0 victory over Wilkes on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at the Ace Bailey Tennis Courts.
With the win, the Bears improved to 7-4 as they played their first home match of the 2025 calendar year. Meanwhile, the Colonels fell to 3-3 overall.
Ursinus won two of the three doubles matches to take the early lead in the match. Sophomore
Deniz Finkel and first-year
Charles DiCicco bested Donovan Zong and Jonah Nguyen 6-0 in the No. 3 doubles match while sophomore
Teddy Snyder and first-year
Russell Nour took down Cole Riley and Otarhe Okoh 6-2 in the No. 1 match. Junior
Andrei Bogdan and first-year
Devin Carter suffered a 6-3 setback at the No. 2 spot to Nathanial Rathe and Connor Frey.
The Bears won all six singles matches to cruise in locking up the victory. Finkel swept past Zong 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Bogdan won 7-5, 6-1 over Riley at the No. 2 spot. Snyder outlasted Rathe 6-1, 5-7, 10-8 at the No. 1 spot while Dichter won a thrilling 6-2, 5-7, 11-13 No. 4 singles match over Okoh. No. 5 and 6 singles were 8 game pro sets as Nour beat Frey 8-3 at the No. 5 spot while DiCicco shut out Nguyen, 8-0.
The Bears return to action on Friday, March 28trh as they will travel to face Albright at 3:00 p.m.
